Discussion Questions!

Question 1:

Which situation would you rather be in:

A:  You are aware that you are being lied to by the main culture and you refuse to bend to the will of others, instead creating a subculture that will provide you some comfort in your friends though you are still aware that you are considered a failure.

B:  You are unaware that there are forces working against you to keep you in the same place that you came from, so you believe the only reason you have not achieved is that you have not worked hard enough. 

 

Question 2:

Taking into account all the perhaps subconscious practices that keep the lower classes from rising higher, what more do you think can be done to create an equal playing field as far as the achievement of career related aspirations are concerned?  How should the subtle methods used to channel students into particular tracks be confronted and changed?
